IDC: Instructor Development Course

Are you dreaming of living the dive life, but haven’t yet taken the plunge? Do you find it appealing to spend your days diving instead of sweating it out in an office?

If so, now is the time to start your PADI Professional career by informing about a personalized PADI Go Pro course package.

The Instructor Development Course can be divided into two parts: the first part is the Assistant Instructor Course (AI) and the second is the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course (OWSI).

This opens up the possibility of becoming either an AI or an OWSI from the Divemaster level.

For those who are Instructors from other Scuba Training Organizations and wish to crossover to PADI… you only need to take the OWSI course.

After the IDC, candidates need to pass a PADI Instructor Examination - IE - conducted by a PADI examiner, before obtaining the ranking of PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

  • Minimum requirements: Must be a PADI Divemaster (or qualifying certification from another training organization) and 18 years old
  • Minimum certification as a diver: 1 year (with a minimum of 6 months as a diver, the candidate can participate in the IDC and finish it, but needs to wait for validity of the certification until requirement is met)
