Diving Cenotes in Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, Mexico is the most convenient location to stay if you want to dive Mexico cenotes, because this city is close enough to take day trips to many of the popular cenotes. In Playa del Carmen, there are a number of hotels, restaurants, and shops, so you can have a comfortable vacation. When you are ready to go diving, then you meet at the dive shop and your dive instructor will drive you to the cenote location.
You might consider planning other dive sites in Playa del Carmen as well. For example, you can dive cenotes on several of the days of your vacation, and visit the beautiful Playa del Carmen ocean reefs on the other days that you would like to go scuba diving.
What are Cenotes?
Cenotes are underground cave systems, with fresh water flowing through the caves. There are some locations in the caves where fresh water meets salt water, and you will be able to see the difference in the water when you reach these areas.
Inside the cenotes, you will find beautiful caverns, open rooms filled with water, and rock formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. The fresh water is so clear that you will feel as though you are flying through the air when you move through each of the caverns during the dive.
